Brickyard Farm lakes’ has many attractions within very easy reach. For the young at heart there is Flamingo Land, only a few minutes away by car. Whilst the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington are comfortably within a 45 minute drive. Culture seekers soon find  Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and the many museums located in this part of North Yorkshire. Of these the most notable are probably Eden Camp’s Modern History Museum just off the A64 at Malton and the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, again close to the A64. York, only 30 minutes away, boasts the Yorvyk Centre and the Railway Museum. Smaller but equally interesting are the likes of Malton Museum, Beck Isle Musem at Pickering and Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-le- Hole. For nature lovers Dalby the Great Yorkshire Forest can provide sight of a fabulous range of wild life whilst Bempton Cliffs, managed by the RSPB, are home to 250,000 sea birds which include both puffins and gannets. Horticultural interests are served by the many open days to the private gardens of various villages in the area and not least by the more commercial gardens of the many country houses and estates in North Yorkshire. Virtually on our door step are Castle Howards Gardens, The Yorkshire Arboretum and Scampston Halls Walled Garden. A little further afield is Sledmere House which lies just into East Yorkshire as is Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens near Driffield.
