Brickyard Farm Lakes is located in North Yorkshire's beautiful Ryedale. Being only 3 miles from Malton there is easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds. York, to the South and Scarborough to the North East are around 30 - 40 minutes drive away. Visitors to Brickyard Farm can simply sit and enjoy the tranquillity of its three lakes or fish them at very reasonable cost. Old Lake (or Amotherby Pond if your map is old enough) is more than one hundred years old and contains a variety of Coarse Fish. Abbie Lake was excavated in the early 1990's and has matured well. Abbie contains a good mix of coarse fish including carp, a good many being in double figures. In the 2004 a series of residents only matches was introduced and it has entertained regulars and touring visitors alike. Matches run on alternate Saturday mornings starting mid to late March, continuing through to late September. The Draw for each match is at 8:00am giving a 9:00am start and lasts for 5 hours. At the start and end of season it may be a later draw with only a 4 hour duration depending on the weather. Brickyard Farm Lakes has many attractions within very easy reach. For the young at heart there are Flamingo Land, only ten minutes away by car, whilst the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington are comfortably each about 45 minutes away. For the culture seekers there is Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and the many museums located in this part of North Yorkshire. Of these the most notable are probably Eden Camp's Modern History Museum just off the A64 at Malton and the Aircraft Museum at Elvington, again close to the A64. York, only 30 minutes away, boasts the Yorvyk Centre, the Railway Museum, the Farming museum and many others. We are fortunate to be blessed with some of the most beautifully scenery in the country on our door step. Local author, Geoff Brooks, has identified over 30 walks all of which start within 3 or 4 miles of us and provide for all stamina's. If you really want to stretch yourself then Dalby Forrest has some excellent walks. and cycle rides.
